Waiting on God?

The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. Lam 3:25 (KJV)

Many believe that waiting on the Lord means to wait on the Lord for the length of time that it would take for Him to move in our life. However, the Bible itself explains what it means to wait on the Lord.

Taste and See God’s Provision for You!

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Psalm 23:5

Through Jesus finished work, God has already prepared the banquet table for you with everything you need for life and for godliness!

I love this Scripture verse in Psalm 23. Note that it says that the table is prepared in the “presence” and not in the “absence” of your enemies?! This means that:-

  • In the presence of Death there is Life.
  • In the presence of Brokenness there is Wholeness
  • In the presence of Sickness there is Health
  • In the presence of Lack there is Abundance…and…
  • In the presence of Barrenness there is Fruitfulness!

Unfortunately, many believers lack knowledge on what God has already freely provided so they are waiting for Him to do something for them. The truth is however, that the Father is waiting on them to come and taste (which means to partake) and see (which means to experience) what He has already prepared!

God wants you to experience what He has freely provided! But God is Love and He can only operate out of love so this means that He cannot force His will upon you. If you read the famous love chapter in 1 Corinthians chapter 13 verse 5 it says in the New Living Translation that love does not demand its own way. And The Message says love does not force itself on others. So even though the Father wants all men to be saved, He will not coerce or force His will upon anyone. He will however do everything possible to reach out and to show Himself strong to them.

This same truth applies to everything that Jesus purchased through His finished work such as healing, provison and fruitfulness. God won’t force you to receive His blessings. But He will do everything He can to help you! The nature of His Spirit is to woe, guide, teach and lead you into all truth and to show you He’s already prepared the way and given you everything you need for your breakthrough! He doesn’t want you to come to Him to earn but rather to learn what He has already done so that you can come, taste and see His goodness!

Remember always that God is looking to SHOW Himself strong to you. He is wanting to reveal His Salvation (which is healing, deliverance, provision, protection and fruitfulness) to you in every area of your life. He doesn’t want you to come and beg for the crumbs under the table but to come and partake in what He has already freely provided! Therefore, I encourage you to run to Him (not from Him) so that He can SHOW you how to cross the line from barrenness into fruitfulness in every area of your life!

God is not the Author or Enforcer of Sickness or Disease!

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. JAMES 1:17

God-is-goodGod is good—all the time! Sickness, disease or pain of any kind are not good gifts, and they never will be!

In the beginning, God created all things to be good (Genesis 1:31)! Sickness, disease, pain and death did not exist because God did not create them. So when God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, they were perfect—fearfully and wonderfully made. God had created them to be blessed, fruitful and healthy. Everything within our body was designed by God to function in full health with no complications of any kind. However, many believe that their bad health or medical condition is somehow God’s will, plan or is a situation that He has brought about so that He can teach them something. But nothing could be further from the truth! God’s Word tells us that we were created to be healthy. So if God was making us sick or withholding healing from us, this would mean that He was working against His own plan, and this simply does not make sense.

More often than not the reason we struggle with sickness or disease is as a result of physical complications in our bodies. This is not God’s doing but is the result of living in a fallen world. God never intended His children to be sick. But it is due to the fall, why many are now suffering with many different forms of sickness, disease and pain.

To be confident in the truth of who God is, you need only to look at His Son Jesus. Jesus came as God in the flesh. He revealed that the nature and character of God is only ever good. And to see God at work, we only need to look at Jesus (John 14:7). Jesus was God on the earth. He was the exact image and representation of the Father (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus clearly showed us that the works He did were the works of the Father. He sent Jesus to do good on this earth. In fact, Acts 10:38, NKJV, tells us that Jesus “went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him”. Jesus never gave someone a sickness or disease. He touched people, healed them and removed their diseases.

Often, when people get sick, or die, God ends up getting the blame. But God created all things to be good.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. JOHN 10:10, NKJV

Jesus revealed throughout the New Testament that the devil is the enforcer of sickness and disease and that the nature and character of God is always to heal, deliver, set free, rescue and to protect. The devil may be the enforcer BUT God has the answer! He sent Jesus! He sent forth His Word and healed you, redeemed you and set you free (Psalm 107). So stop blaming God for what the devil or this fallen world has thrown at you and and instead Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith.

The price has already been paid and the victory already won for you!

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14 (KJV)

The original word wait in this Scripture is the Hebrew Word Qavah and it means: to wait or look eagerly for, to hope, to expect.

Translating the above Scripture into the original language should therefore correctly read:

Expect in Jehovah, the One True God, be secure in Him, and He will confirm the determination of your heart. Expect I say, in Jehovah, the One true God.

There are many other Scriptures where the word wait is this same word Qavah (to expect). The Dictionary also defines the word wait as meaning ‘to expect’. Therefore, to wait on the Lord does not mean that we sit back passively until something happens. It means that we need to be active and expect to see God’s Word outworking in our life.

But they that wait (expect) upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Those who expect shall have renewed strength. Not those who are hoping or wishing but for those who have a faith filled expectation to experience all that God has for them.

Expectancy is the breeding ground for miracles!

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1

Expectation fuels our faith (belief in Jesus finished work) and we are strengthened because faith (belief in Jesus finished work) is the substance of what we are expecting!

In the Old Testament Jer 1:12 (NIV) says that… God is watching His Word to perform it. The NKJV reads that ‘God is ready to perform His Word’. God was ready to perform everything He said and those that knew Him expected it to come to pass!

It is important to note that we have a better Covenant based on better promises than the Old Covenant. So when it comes to what Jesus has already purchased through His finished work we don’t have to wait or expect God to perform His Word. Why? Because He has already sent forth His Word and healed you, delivered you, forgiven you and set you free! Hallelujah! This is why all of the promises of God are ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ (so be it) in Christ. But the exciting thing is that what Jesus has purchased are not promises ‘per say’ but rather PROVISIONS! And if you belong to Christ then this is already your inheritance!  You can therefore expect to see what Jesus has already purchased for you outworking in your life!

Now that is Good News!

The Light at the end of the Tunnel

Have you heard of the saying “The light is always at the end of the tunnel”?

Well that is rubbish in my eyes! Why look for the light at the end of the tunnel?!

Jesus is LIGHT and LIFE and you can have that right NOW!

Jesus is with you NOW! In fact, He is ALWAYS with you and He wants to walk WITH YOU every day and every step of the way! That ALONE always encourages me! This means that we don’t have to suffer or struggle on our own, Jesus is there as our helper, comforter, strengthener and standby!

We have EVERYTHING we need in Jesus!

Therefore, connect with Him in the NOW, and know that the light is ALREADY with you so that you can walk in victory every day and every step along the way 🙂

…He God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down, relax My hold on you! Assuredly not! So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm, I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me? Heb 13:5a-6 Amp

The GOODNESS of God!

Did you know that God is good all the time? Most believers will say they believe this BUT when something doesn’t go as planned God usually gets the blame. When you know God’s character you will realise that He is not the one behind your trouble. However, He is always available to show you the way through.

The Known Character of God

There are many other references throughout the Bible that describe the true nature and character of God:-

1) God is love  – love covers a multitude of sins, it never fails or gives up (1 Cor 13)

2) God does not change, He is unchanging (Mal 3:6, James 1:17, Heb 6)

3) God does not lie (Num 23:19, Rom 3:4)

4) God cannot act contrary to His own character and nature (Heb 6)

5) God does not alter His Word or break His Covenant (Ps 89:34, Heb 6)

6) God’s Word is true and stands forever (1 Pet 1:25)

7) God does not test or tempt us with evil (James 1:13-17)

8) God’s Kingdom does not work against itself!  A house divided will fall!

9) ONLY good gifts come from God (James 1:17)

10) God does not withhold any good thing from the righteous (Ps 84:11b)

11) All of God’s callings and gifts are irrevocable, (without repentance), which means that God does not change His mind (Rom 11:29 – see Amp and MSG versions).

12) God does not show partiality or favouritism (Acts 10:34, Rom 2:11), which means that He does not bless one person over another.  God’s gifts are freely available to ALL who believe in Him.

Now that is Good News!
